What is SwitchLAN?

SwitchLANs is a Melbourne LAN that is local to the Nillumbik area and is run by members of Eltham Baptist Church and Yarra Plenty Church. We are different to other Melbourne LANs in that:

  • we do not charge our attendees for coming to the Melbourne LAN (the cost is absorbed by our churches, equipment is provided through fund-raising, the venue is provided by one of the churches and our admins donate their time and efforts);
  • we aim to provide a ‘clean’ environment for our patrons (avoiding the electronic sharing of pornography);
  • we have a gaming focus (rather than promoting ‘leeching’ or illegally sharing copyrighted material); and
  • we have a strong and vibrant community :) Many people have described our events as fun and enjoyable.
